Queues at the border with Poland have disappeared: border guards warn of new excitement

According to ТСН: The situation at the border between Ukraine and Poland has significantly improved compared to a few days ago, when hundreds of cars were stuck in kilometer-long traffic jams. At some border crossings, there are practically no queues. However, border guards warn: this calm may not last long.

From 16 hours of waiting to empty roads

During the weekend, travelers complained about the long queues. People spent from 10 to 16 hours at the border, and the most difficult situation was on Sunday when the excitement before the holidays peaked.

Today, at the Shhehyni crossing point, traffic is moving freely. Drivers who prepared for a long wait were pleasantly surprised.

“We monitored yesterday, it was indicated that people were waiting for 12-16 hours. We drove randomly, thinking we would wait as long as it takes. But it turned out — we didn’t wait at all,” travelers share their impressions.

Record number of travelers: statistics from the Border Guard Service

Border guards noted that the surge in activity is associated with preparations for Christmas and New Year, so Ukrainians are massively traveling abroad for shopping or celebrations.

According to the spokesperson of the 7th mountain border detachment, the passenger flow has doubled:

“If in November the average daily border crossing fluctuated around 30-35 thousand people, then over the last day, 75 thousand people crossed the border in both directions.”

Will the queues return?

Border guards urge not to relax. Although the situation is currently stable, a new surge of excitement is predicted just before the New Year.

With preparations for the holidays, border points have seen a record level of activity. This surge may lead to queues in the last days of the year. It is still important to plan trips in advance to avoid possible delays. Therefore, travelers should be attentive and ready for changes in the schedule.
