Putin announced new conditions for peace: what he demands from Ukraine

According to ТСН: Against the backdrop of behind-the-scenes negotiations for a peace treaty, Russian leader Putin made several statements regarding the war in Ukraine.

Here are the main points from his speech and their significance for Ukraine.

Will fight 'to the last Ukrainian'

Putin stated that Russia is ready to stop military actions if Ukraine renounces the territories that the Kremlin considers its own — in particular, parts of the Donetsk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions.

‘Ukrainian troops will leave the occupied territories, then we will cease military actions, if not — we will achieve it by military means. The number, let’s say, of territories that are being returned is increasing; the pace is increasing,’ Putin noted.

He added that he himself does not plan to fight 'to the last Ukrainian,' but the West does.

‘In principle, we are ready for this (to fight 'to the last Ukrainian' — Ed.)’.

What the dictator thinks about the peace treaty

Putin claims that there were no drafts of a peace treaty from Ukraine, only a 'set of questions' for discussion.

‘As for the draft of the treaty: there were no drafts. There was a set of questions that were suggested for discussion and to be formulated finally,’ he stated.

He also noted that the list of agreements consisting of 28 points emerged after his meeting with Trump in Alaska. Putin assured that Russia 'in general agrees' that this draft could serve as the basis for future agreements.

He specifically emphasized the so-called 'recognition of Russia's sovereignty' over the occupied territories — Crimea and Donbas.

The American delegation will come to Moscow for negotiations

Putin also announced that a US delegation will visit Moscow to discuss Donald Trump's peace plan.

‘We expect them in the first half of next week,’ Putin said.

On the publication of recordings of Ushakov's conversations with Vitkoff and Dmitriev

Putin expressed outrage over the so-called 'leaks' of telephone conversations, describing it as a criminal offense.

‘These are possibly some fakes. Perhaps they really listened in. In general, this is a criminal punishment. We at least should not allow eavesdropping,’ he said.

He also commented on rumors that Trump’s special envoy Vitkoff supports the Russian position, assuring that Vitkoff defends the interests of the United States.

Will he attack Europe

Putin assured that he would provide 'paper' guarantees that Russia would not attack European countries.

‘It’s one thing to say in general that Russia does not intend to attack Europe. This sounds funny to us, right? And we never intended, if they want to hear from us, well let’s fix it. No questions,’ Putin declared.

Again demands elections in Ukraine

He also noted that he is not ready to sign documents for settlement with the current Ukrainian leadership.

‘It’s pointless to sign documents with the Ukrainian leadership; they made a strategic mistake when they were afraid to hold elections,’ the dictator said.

Hysteria over confiscated Russian assets

Putin criticized the confiscation of frozen Russian assets in Europe, calling it a crime.

‘It is clear that this will have negative consequences for the global financial system, because trust in the eurozone will sharply decline,’ he expressed.

Is Lavrov really out of favor?

Putin denied information that Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had supposedly fallen out of favor.

‘What a lie. Lavrov has not fallen out of favor. He has his own work schedule... He is preparing for a meeting with American partners,’ he said.

Putin's speech once again confirms his hardline stance towards Ukraine and the Kremlin's intentions in the context of peace negotiations. Nevertheless, the uncertainty surrounding Moscow's real intentions raises concerns both internationally and domestically. In the course of further developments, it is important to monitor the negotiations between the US and Russia, which could become decisive in the issue of resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
