Ukrainian Military Pay in February 2024: Base Salary and Combat Bonuses
According to Novyny.live: The minimum monthly compensation for a member of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in February 2024 is set at 20,436.60 UAH before the mandatory 1.5% military tax is deducted. After this deduction, the servicemember receives a net amount of 20,130.05 UAH. This compensation is a combination of a base salary and various mandatory supplements. Understanding these figures provides insight into the financial support for those defending the nation during a time of war.
Total compensation is calculated from several components: the base salary for military rank, the salary for the specific position held, a bonus for years of service, an allowance for handling state secrets, a supplement for the specific conditions of military service, a standard monthly bonus, and combat pay. All payments for February 2024 will be processed in accordance with current Ukrainian legislation.
Additional Compensation for Combat Duties
According to a directive (No. 183/ud) issued by Ukraine's Minister of Defense on January 16, 2024, servicemembers can receive significant bonuses for performing combat duties. Those carrying out missions outside active combat zones are eligible for up to 30,000 UAH. Personnel involved in military command and control can receive 50,000 UAH. The highest bonus, set at 100,000 UAH, is reserved for defenders performing tasks directly within active combat zones.
These new payment structures are established under the authority of existing Ministry of Defense orders, including Order No. 260 from June 7, 2018, and Order No. 280 from May 22, 2017. The updated compensation framework reflects the state's commitment to supporting its military personnel who undertake critical and dangerous tasks. This policy is part of broader governmental efforts to ensure adequate service conditions and maintain troop morale amidst the ongoing national defense effort. By directly tying higher pay to combat roles, the system aims to recognize the immense contribution of frontline soldiers to national security.
