Hearing in the US Congress on Ukrainian Children Abducted by Russia
According to Novyny.live: On March 25, 2026, a hearing took place in the US Congress addressing the abduction of Ukrainian children by Russia. Representatives James McGovern and Chris Smith participated in the session. A report from Yale University, which provides evidence of the involvement of Russian oil companies in the abductions of children, was at the center of the discussions. The hearing highlights the systematic approach and economic involvement in these crimes.
According to the report, Russian companies Gazprom and Rosneft financed the transport of 2,158 children from Ukraine between 2022 and 2025. Notably, 80 percent of the organizations involved in the transfer of Ukrainian children to Russia are not under sanctions. There are officially confirmed cases of 19,915 abductions, while an estimated 1.6 million Ukrainian children continue to be under Russian occupation. Additionally, 400,000 Ukrainian children have been integrated into Russian paramilitary organizations. Legal proceedings have already been initiated against three individuals for child deportation.
