Kyiv Tragedy: Driver Detained Following Fatal Collision

According to Novyny.live: A 49-year-old Mercedes driver has been taken into custody after a horrific incident on June 5th along Chokolivsky Boulevard in Kyiv. The high-speed crash claimed four lives, including:

  • A 12-year-old boy
  • A 47-year-old woman
  • Two police officers, aged 21 and 23

Three additional victims sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities report that the suspect was speeding before losing control and crashing into an underground pedestrian crossing. He was formally detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. A criminal investigation has been launched under Part 3 of Article 286 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code. Notably, the driver had a documented history of traffic violations, underscoring the severity of the situation and the consequences of his actions.
