Shmyhal Reveals Plans for Defense Integration with the EU.
On Tuesday, July 22, Ukraine's Minister of Defense Denis Shmyhal announced the country's joining the EU SAFE defense initiative during an online conversation with European Commission Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis. The budget for this initiative amounts to 150 billion euros.
According to Shmyhal, Ukraine is actively cooperating with EU countries and European institutions for integration into the SAFE project. He emphasized that access to this initiative is strategically important for the security of the entire European region.
'We are open to close cooperation with partners funded under SAFE and are ready to jointly develop technologies that have proven their effectiveness on the battlefield,' Shmyhal stressed.
The minister also expressed gratitude to Dombrovskis for supporting Ukraine and confirmed readiness for further strengthening the defense capabilities of Ukraine and the European Union.
