Tragic Incident in Oleksandrivka

According to TSN.ua: A devastating attack occurred in the village of Oleksandrivka, located in the Dnipropetrovsk region, when a Cane Corso dog mauled a 13-year-old girl named Kira. She was walking home from school when the animal suddenly targeted her. Due to severe injuries and resulting blood poisoning, doctors were forced to amputate her leg.

According to the victim’s mother, Tetiana, the dog lunged from behind, clamping onto her daughter’s leg just below the knee and violently shaking it.

“The dog attacked from behind, grabbed her leg under the knee, and started thrashing it around, tearing at it as she ran,”
Tetiana recounted. The incident has shaken the local community, and authorities have opened a criminal investigation under charges related to reckless infliction of serious or moderate bodily harm.

The dog’s owner has provided some financial assistance to the family. Tetiana is calling for a fair legal process and an impartial inquiry, stressing the broader need for public safety.

“I insist on a fair hearing and demand an objective investigation,”
she emphasized.

Safety and Accountability Concerns

This case has sparked renewed debate over street safety and the responsibilities of pet owners. It raises pressing questions about how similar tragedies can be prevented in the future.

The attack in Oleksandrivka highlights the urgent need to address owner accountability, particularly for large and potentially aggressive dog breeds. Ensuring a safe environment for children and proper control over domestic animals is critical in the wake of such events. Local communities must discuss and enforce rules and measures designed to avert similar incidents going forward.
