It's not about a summons: Rutte points out Europe's weak spot in the confrontation with Russia.
European countries must invest in their defense industry base, as their weakness in this area is a real problem for NATO. Secretary-General Mark Rutte is confident that the insufficient amount of defense production concerns the alliance, which is important for deterring potential threats. However, military service is not mandatory for all European countries.
'This is a problem for the entire alliance. We simply lack the industrial base to produce the weapons needed to deter the Russians, North Koreans, or anyone who might attack. We are working on this very quickly.', - said Rutte.
The threat of Russian aggression
Rutte also noted that the decision regarding conscription remains with each individual country. Recently, Western countries have increasingly warned about the possible threat of Russian aggression, preparing for potential conflicts in the future.
In his statement, a NATO representative emphasized the importance of investing in the defense industrial base to deter potential threats such as Russian aggression. At the same time, he noted that the introduction of conscription remains a decision for each individual country, but the current situation requires increased attention and readiness for possible conflicts.
