On the Bribe to the SBU Colonel: The Defendant Tried to Order the Murder of a Witness from Jail.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) is rescuing a key witness in the case of a bribe to an officer of the Main Investigative Department of the SBU from an order for murder. This was reported by SBU representatives.
Recall that in the spring of 2024, a group of raiders tried to bribe an official to obtain his assistance in a raider capture of a mining company in Vinnytsia region. The colonel of the Ukrainian special services immediately reported the 'proposal' he received to his superiors, after which the criminals were detained.
The organizer of the criminal group, who was in a detention center, planned to kill the main witness to avoid punishment in court, the SBU reported.
The defendant began looking for a killer to commit the crime and turned to arrested criminals who were with him in the detention center for help.
The criminal promised to provide the killer with all personal information about the witness, including his address and movement routes. For the crime committed, the customer guaranteed to pay the killer 50 thousand dollars.
SBU employees uncovered the defendant's criminal plans in advance and blocked them at the stage of preparation for the ordered murder, the SBU stated.
Currently, the raider has been charged with a new suspicion of preparing to commit the ordered murder. Previously, his actions were classified as offering an illegal benefit to an official.
SBU representatives added that under the new facts, the criminal faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Recall that the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption discovered signs of corruption criminal offenses in the actions of the former head of the Department of Economic Support of the SBU.
During monitoring of the lifestyle of the former official and his entourage, signs of corruption criminal offenses amounting to over 27.7 million hryvnias were found.
