The USA blocks the transfer of frozen assets of the Russian Federation to Ukraine: what is known.
According to ТСН: Frozen Russian assets could become an important source of funding for the Armed Forces of Ukraine; however, their use is currently blocked due to pressure from the United States.
Economist Boris Kushniruk reported on the air of 'Kyiv 24' that the USA has appealed to several European states, including Belgium and Germany, with a strong request not to transfer frozen funds to Ukraine.
According to Kushniruk, Washington's position significantly limits Ukraine's opportunities to obtain additional financial resources for defense during the war. The economist believes that refusing to use Russian assets is a significant strategic mistake.
Impact on support for Ukraine
He also emphasized that the current US policy could change the balance of support. Focusing on economic interests in relations with Russia poses risks for both Ukraine and European security as a whole.
Kushniruk noted that the frozen assets of the Russian Federation could be used to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities without additional burden on the budgets of Western states.
Discussion in the EU
Meanwhile, in Brussels, EU leaders postponed discussions on the possibility of using frozen Russian assets to finance Ukraine. The decision on this issue remains a rather complicated challenge.
It should be noted that the tactics of US President Donald Trump provoke the emergence of new conflicts and wars, believes Ukrainian politician, diplomat, and lecturer Roman Bezsmertny.
The use of frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine attracts the attention of not only economists but also politicians from around the world. This issue continues to be at the center of international discussions, as funding for Ukraine's defense in wartime remains critically important. How the situation develops further depends not only on Ukraine but also on the positions of Western partners in the fight against Russian aggression.
