The U.S. Embassy in Russia Congratulates the Aggressor Country on the New Year and Mentions Trump's Efforts.
According to ТСН: The U.S. Embassy in Russia congratulated the aggressor country as the New Year approaches, emphasizing the efforts of President Donald Trump to achieve peace in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
The corresponding statement and video address were published on the embassy's Facebook page.
"The U.S. Embassy in Moscow wishes you a Happy New Year!"
In the video address, the temporary charge d'affaires of the U.S. in Russia, J. Douglas Dikehouse, delivered greetings to the Russian people.
"Dear friends, Happy New Year! With the onset of the New Year, on behalf of the American people, I sincerely wish you and your families well. The spirit of this season prompts reflection, renewal, and hope. It is a time when people around the world stop to think not only about where they have been but also where they seek to move forward."
Dikehouse emphasized that the last few years had been challenging, bringing loss and division. However, he noted that "the conflict does not define the future if we do not allow it to." The U.S. representative stressed that the change of the year opens new opportunities for moving forward, seeking peace as a shared responsibility and benefit.
"President Donald J. Trump has consistently stressed the importance of ending the Russian-Ukrainian war. His administration has worked hard to encourage dialogue and concrete actions, seeking a path to peace that respects the sovereignty of states and prioritizes security and stability in the region."
Dikehouse also noted that Trump's efforts have laid the foundation for further engagement and negotiations, underlining that the commitment to diplomacy will remain a beacon of hope for both peoples.
"Americans and Russians share deep traditions of resilience, creativity, and love for their homeland. These common traits can serve as the basis for building a more peaceful future. Wishing health, peace, and prosperity in the new year!"
It is also worth mentioning that earlier, the Kremlin expressed its intention to send Trump greetings for Christmas and the New Year, marking this as a gesture of "politeness." The spokesperson for the President of the Russian Federation emphasized that details regarding Vladimir Putin's decision to congratulate his American counterpart would be communicated separately.
The greetings from the U.S. embassy marked an engaging moment in international relations, as we see how political gestures can influence the mood between nations. New Year greetings typically carry messages of peace and unity, so such statements can be an important step toward improving dialogue between the U.S. and Russia in challenging times.Read also
