This step was initiated by the US Department of the Treasury, as reported on their official website. The US Treasury Department has removed restrictions for certain operations with the Russian Federation that were under sanctions, in preparation for the meeting of the two leaders. However, it is worth noting that this license will only be valid until August 20 and does not allow for the unfreezing of blocked assets or violation of other sanctions, except for those explicitly mentioned in the permit.Previously, Trump expressed doubts about Putin's willingness to end the war in Ukraine, assuring of possible 'very serious consequences' for Russia if the conflict continues.
