U.S. Ramps Up Sanctions on Rosneft, Rules Out Military Solution to War.
U.S. Increases Pressure on Russia with Sanctions
According to UATV: The United States is intensifying its pressure campaign against Russia, with a key focus on sanctions targeting the state-owned oil giant 'Rosneft'. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized that there is no military solution to Russia's war against Ukraine and called for continued ceasefire negotiations.
"There is no military solution to Russia's war against Ukraine. Therefore, we must continue negotiations for a ceasefire,"stated Marco Rubio.
Rubio further noted that the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump continues to escalate pressure on Moscow, including through sanctions imposed in late 2022.
"The administration continues to increase pressure on Moscow. For instance, at the end of last year, President Donald Trump introduced additional sanctions against the oil company 'Rosneft',"the Secretary of State declared.
Arms Sales to Ukraine and Diplomatic Efforts
Additionally, Marco Rubio pointed out that the U.S. continues to sell weapons to Ukraine, stressing that 'we do not sell weapons to Russia and we do not impose sanctions against Ukraine'. He also confirmed that the United States is working towards a swift end to the war in Ukraine and achieving peace, which is a priority for the Trump administration.
"The United States continues to work for the fastest possible end to the war in Ukraine and the achievement of peace,"said Rubio.
It is worth noting that a meeting between Ukrainian and American delegations is scheduled for February 26th in Geneva to discuss next steps regarding the war in Ukraine. This meeting is part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to manage a conflict that has significantly impacted European security.
These statements underscore the continuation of active U.S. diplomatic engagement concerning the Ukraine conflict, which could have significant implications for any future peace process. The Geneva meeting promises to be a crucial stage in negotiations that may determine the course of events in the region. Faced with mounting pressure from the United States, Russia may be compelled to reassess its strategy in Ukraine to avoid further isolation and economic damage.
