Iran’s Current Crisis and the U.S.-Israel Strategy

According to UATV: The United States and Israel are intensifying efforts to weaken Iran, targeting strategic military sites through coordinated actions. Israel has been carrying out precision strikes against Iranian leadership, while the U.S. deploys bombers to dismantle Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. Meanwhile, domestic turmoil inside Iran remains severe: between 40,000 and 60,000 people were killed during protests in January, with demonstrators facing brutal crackdowns by the 'Basij' paramilitary forces. This internal repression highlights the deep instability within the country.

Israel has outlined four primary objectives in its conflict with Iran:

  • halting Iran’s ability to strike Israel,
  • disrupting the training of proxy groups,
  • eliminating Iran’s nuclear program,
  • and creating conditions for regime change in Tehran.
Expert Mark Babot described the situation as a 'two-layer war: the first layer is the U.S., the second is Iran. The U.S. is trying to take out strategic targets that could weaken the Iranian regime.'

He further warned that 'without a change in regime, the next round will come in 4 to 7 years.' These remarks underscore the protracted and complex nature of the conflict, which plays out both on the international stage and within Iran itself.

Outlook and Consequences

Overall, the region remains on edge due to ongoing military operations and social upheaval in Iran, which threaten stability across the Middle East. Further U.S. and Israeli actions risk escalating the conflict, impacting security not only in Iran but also in neighboring countries. Iran’s internal crisis also raises alarms, as continued repression of protesters could fuel greater social unrest and deepen the confrontation.
