The administration of US President Joe Biden announced a complete ban on the use of software from the company "Kaspersky Lab" due to its ties with Russia. The Hill reports.

"Russia has shown that it has the ability and desire to use such Russian companies as Kaspersky to collect and use personal information of Americans," said US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo.

Raimondo added that although the company has long raised concerns, the Bureau of Industry and Security at the Department of Commerce was able to ban the use of Kaspersky under new powers.

"As the Russian government conducts cyber attacks and can influence Kaspersky's activities, we have concluded that we need to take drastic measures such as a complete ban to protect Americans and their personal data," Raimondo said.

Starting from July 20, Kaspersky will be unable to sign new deals in the US. Existing clients will be able to use the software until September 29, after which services will be limited.

Problems and bans

Recently, Kaspersky has faced issues due to potential ties with the Russian government. This has led to sanctions and bans on the use of the company's products in some countries, including the US.

The administration of US President Joe Biden is considering banning American companies and citizens from using software created by the Russian company Kaspersky Lab.

Mobile radio frequency detector

Previously, "Kaspersky Lab" developed a mobile radio frequency detector for detecting drones. The first batch of 20 devices has already been sent to one of the Russian commercial entities. The company does not hide that this anti-drone detector is intended for government organizations.

After traces of hacking were discovered on two of its devices, the European Parliament urged members of its defense subcommittee to check their phones for spy software.
