Russian wrestlers started a mass brawl during the wrestling championship
Participants and spectators of the student wrestling championship in Russia got into a clash after the match between athletes from North Ossetia and Dagestan. According to the organizer of the competitions, Vyacheslav Bagaev, the conflict initially started among the fans and quickly escalated into physical altercations.
The organizers, judges, and security all tried to break them up. But it didn’t work.
According to the head judge of the competition, the incident has already been reported to the Russian Wrestling Federation. It is still unclear who started the brawl, but the organizers promise to punish those responsible. At the same time, Russian tennis player Polina Kudermetova sparked outrage by posting a St. George ribbon on her Instagram.
Context
The situation with the aggression of Russian athletes and the use of political symbols at sporting events provokes outrage and raises tensions in Ukrainian society.
