The problem of corruption in Ukraine is often exaggerated in society and among certain social groups. At the same time, external observers 'evaluate Ukraine by different criteria.'

This was stated by Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko in an interview with Bloomberg on Tuesday, July 22.

She referred to survey results indicating that while most Ukrainians consider corruption to be widespread, significantly fewer have had direct experience with it.

'To be honest, within Ukrainian society and among certain social groups, this problem is exaggerated and overly inflated', the Prime Minister said.

She also justified the government's decision to reject the nomination for the head of the Bureau of Economic Security, despite the demands of the IMF and the European Commission, as well as the fact that the nomination had been approved by the competition commission.

According to her, the Cabinet of Ministers 'acted within the established procedures: we received a nomination from the competition commission, made a collective decision, and returned it to the commission.'

In a statement, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko points out that the problem of corruption may seem exaggerated to Ukrainian society, but emphasizes that the government's actions complied with established procedures.
