Mark Rutte on Putin and China: How NATO is Preparing for New Threats.
According to ТСН: NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte expressed his opinion on the possibility of Europe and Ukraine being rid of dictator Putin. He emphasized that Putin has been in power since 1999, so a journalist asked Rutte about the prospects of removing this leader.
“Some say: 'If not Putin, something worse could happen.' I can only say this: whatever happens in Russia, we must not be naive. We are a peaceful, defensive alliance,” noted NATO Secretary General.
Rutte also drew attention to the global cooperation between China and Russia. He does not rule out that in the event of military action by China against Taiwan, Putin might receive orders to keep NATO forces busy in Europe and try to attack one of the European countries.
“China is looking at Taiwan. And I am convinced that if China takes military action there, it will pressure its junior partner, Russia, under Putin's leadership, to keep us occupied here in Europe. That is why we must be ready. We need to spend money, strengthen our defense, and recruit the best men and women in uniform we can find,” concluded the NATO Secretary General.
Earlier, Mark Rutte reported that certain European countries are ready to send troops to Ukraine.
These comments by Rutte underscore the importance of careful monitoring of the situation in Ukraine and around the world. As tensions rise between major powers, NATO continues to strengthen its defense capabilities to respond to possible challenges in the region.
