Russian Military Training in China: A Closer Look

According to Espreso.tv: A classified document dated August 2025 has revealed that Russian armed forces participated in training exercises in China focused on radiation, chemical, and biological protection. The training took place at facilities of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) in November, where a Russian delegation spent three weeks acquiring new knowledge and skills.

The Russian delegation was led by Colonel-General Rustam Muradov, while Chinese Major General Li Jinsun attended the opening of one of the courses. An agreement to conduct the training was signed on July 2 by representatives of both countries—Rustam Khusainov on the Russian side and Sun Dayun on the Chinese side. European Union intelligence agencies have confirmed that China trained hundreds of Russian soldiers, highlighting the active military cooperation between the two nations.

Long-Term Planning and Mixed Reactions

Reports from May 2023 already indicated that military instructors and officers had been prepared, suggesting long-term planning for such exercises. However, Andrei Kartapolov dismissed the information as

“complete nonsense”
, reflecting differing perspectives and assessments of the situation.

Russia's participation in these exercises in China underscores the strengthening of military ties between the two countries and their joint readiness to address modern security challenges.

This military collaboration between Russia and China could have far-reaching implications for regional and global security, as both nations actively expand their military capabilities. The deepening of military ties may signal a new phase in bilateral relations amid rising international tensions and the need for joint responses to potential threats. Such training also serves as a demonstration of unity and cooperative readiness in an era of intensifying geopolitical competition.
