Brigitta Ann Brink - American diplomat, Ambassador of the USA to Ukraine.

Place of Birth. Education. Born in the state of Michigan, USA. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Kenyon College (a private liberal arts college in Ohio) and two Master’s degrees - in International Relations and Political Theory - from the London School of Economics.

Career.

In 1996, she began her diplomatic career at the U.S. Department of State. From 1997 to 1999, she was a Political Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade. Until 2002, Brink worked as a consultant for Cyprus and until 2004 as a special assistant to the Deputy U.S. Secretary of State for Political Affairs in Europe. From 2005 to 2008, she was the Political-Economic Chief in Tbilisi. She then became the Deputy Director for Southern Europe at the U.S. Department of State. From 2009 to 2010, she was the Director for the Aegean Sea and South Caucasus at the President's National Security Council, where Brink coordinated U.S. foreign policy and advanced its interests in relations with Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia. In 2011, she returned to Georgia as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi. From 2014 to August 2015, she was Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent. From 2015 to 2018, she was Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau for European and Eurasian Affairs.

New U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine.

In May 2019, U.S. President Donald Trump appointed Brigitta Brink as Ambassador to Slovakia. On August 20, 2019, she presented her credentials to Slovak President Zuzana Caputova. On April 25, 2022, she was appointed by President Joe Biden as the new U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine. On May 19, 2022, the U.S. Senate confirmed Brigitta Brink as Ambassador of the USA to Ukraine. On May 30, 2022, Brigitta Brink presented her credentials at the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
