Birthplace. Education. William Bradley Pitt was born on December 18, 1963, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, USA, and grew up in a very religious American family. His father, William Pitt, worked as a manager in a transportation company, and his mother, Jane Etta Hillhouse, was a teacher at a local school. He and his brother Doug Pitt and sister Julie Pitt grew up in Springfield, Missouri, where the family moved shortly after his birth. At school, Pitt was active in sports, debate club, music department, and participated in student self-governance. After school, William enrolled at the University of Missouri - Columbia, where he studied journalism and advertising.

Career. After graduating, however, he did not pursue his professional career but went to Hollywood to start an acting career. There he changed his name to Brad Pitt. Brad attended many auditions, and eventually, success came. Thanks to his natural acting talent and appearance, he was discovered in a commercial for Levi's 501 jeans.

In 1987, Brad got the role of Priscilla Presley's boyfriend and appeared in 5 episodes of the famous soap opera about Texas oil barons 'Dallas.' Later, he made guest appearances in an episode of the popular teen drama series '21 Jump Street' and in several episodes of 'Head of the Class.' He also appeared in single episodes of TV series: 'Another World', 'Tales from the Crypt', 'Life Begins at 30'. In the 6-episode miniseries of 1988 'Glory Days', he already played the main role.

He made his film debut in 1987 with two small roles, but his actual film debut is considered to be his role in the 1989 film 'Cutting Class.' Today, Pitt describes this film as 'a bad, bad horror movie for teenagers, which is even embarrassing to show after midnight on cable TV.' During the filming of this movie, he also met his first Hollywood love, actress Jill Schoelen. But this romance didn't last long, as the following year Brad fell in love with the then 16-year-old actress Juliette Lewis while shooting the TV movie 'Too Young to Die?'. They lived together for three years.

Pitt's breakthrough came with the film by the famous actor and director Robert Redford 'A River Runs Through It'. This touching film about relationships in a family from a provincial town reminded Brad of his relationship with his own family, and he only had to be himself on screen.

At the end of his three-year relationship with Juliette Lewis, he starred with her in the film 'California' about two psychopath murderers. After that, it was all uphill - all the best movies, best roles: the role in the independent film 'Real Love' (1993), as a young man who becomes a vampire in the film 'Interview with the Vampire', and the collaboration with Anthony Hopkins in 'Legends of the Fall.'

After the moderate mystical melodrama 'Meet Joe Black' (1998) by Martin Brest, Pitt worked again with David Fincher, and this time their collaboration was even brighter, more controversial, and provocative. After the film 'Fight Club' (1999), the actor declared that he hates fighting.

His subsequent roles ('The Star', 'Spy Game', 'Ocean's Eleven') compared to his role with Fincher seem like a step back. But this has no impact on his popularity: an actor who stars in two $100 million hits in Hollywood a year can get any role in any film.

In 2018, Pitt played the role of stuntman Cliff Booth alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Quentin Tarantino's film 'Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood', which is dedicated to the murders of the Manson family. For this role, he received awards such as the 'Oscar', the 'Golden Globe', BAFTA, the SAG Award and the 'Critics' Choice' for Best Supporting Actor. This is Brad Pitt's first 'Oscar' he received for acting.

Awards. Pitt received the prestigious 'Golden Globe' for Best Supporting Actor for his role in '12 Monkeys'. Winner of the 'Oscar' as one of the producers of the film '12 Years a Slave' - winner in the category 'Best Picture' at the 2014 ceremony and for Best Supporting Actor in 'Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood' (2020). Before that, he was nominated for the 'Oscar' four times (three times as an actor and once as a producer).

Fees. When measuring an actor's popularity by their role fees, Pitt has also made significant progress here. For the film 'Seven Years in Tibet' shot in 1997, he received a check for $8 million, and for the role in 'Meet Joe Black', filmed in 1998, already $17.5 million. The actor has been offered even larger sums: $25 million for participating in action films, which he categorically refused. The actor says, 'I choose roles and films according to my mood at that moment. I do not want to act against my feelings. And I plan to continue behaving this way. Some of my most famous colleagues choose roles based on the preferences and expectations of other people. I want to avoid that and behave as I do now, that is, to play in films that primarily have significance for me.' When selecting scripts, Brad relies more on the advice of his father, who remains for him the greatest authority.

Hobbies. Brad has various hobbies. He kept several dogs at home, as well as a terrarium with dozens of chameleons. Pitt has stated several times that he loves music more than film. Therefore, one can find guitars, entire piles of CDs, and CD players in some of Pitt's houses. Music in Pitt's house plays almost non-stop. He loves antiques, and his house is filled with handcrafted old furniture. Until the filming of the movie 'Seven Years in Tibet' about a German who became the Dalai Lama's teacher during World War II, Brad had a severe fear of heights. In preparation for filming, he visited the Swiss Alps, the Dolomites in Italy, and became so fascinated by the mountains that he seriously considered taking up mountain climbing.

Personal Life. While filming the movie 'Seven', Pitt was linked with actress Gwyneth Paltrow. Their engagement and subsequent marriage were even announced. The news of the divorce of this couple surprised everyone. Some claim Paltrow decided she was not ready for marriage; others claim Pitt cheated with another actress, Claire Forlani, during the filming of 'Seven Years in Tibet.'

In 2000, Pitt married actress Jennifer Aniston. The wedding was very glamorous and cost the couple $1 million. For four years, the marriage seemed like a fairy tale, but in January 2005, they separated. According to most journalists, this occurred because of Angelina Jolie, who shared the screen with Pitt in the action-comedy 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith'. Since 2005, Brad Pitt has been seen more frequently with Angelina Jolie. In May 2006, Angelina gave birth to a child from Brad. The civil marriage with Jolie was Pitt's second experience with a serious relationship. In 2010, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie decided to legalize their relationship, convinced by their six children: the couple is raising Zahara from Ethiopia, Maddox from Cambodia, Pax from Vietnam, as well as their biological children, daughter Shiloh Nouvel and twins Knox and Vivienne. In September 2016, the Jolie-Pitt couple separated after 11 years together. The reasons for the divorce were disagreements over the upbringing of the children and also due to Brad Pitt's alcohol dependence. On April 12, 2019, the marriage was dissolved.
