Place of Birth. Education. Born in the village of Nyaksvmol, Beryozovsky District of the Tyumen Region. Graduated from the Kostroma Institute of Technology in 1980 and the All-Union Institute of Law in 1989. Doctor of Law.

Career. Started his professional career in 1980. Worked as a locksmith, then as a foreman at the Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant.

From 1982 to 1984 - Head of the Organizational Department of the Lenin District Committee of the Komsomol in Chelyabinsk.

From 1984 to 1990 - Senior Party and Government Worker in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug of the Tyumen Region.

From 1990 to 1991 - Head of the State Tax Inspectorate in the city of Kogalym, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug.

From 1991 to 1993 - Mayor of Kogalym.

From 1993 to 1994 - First Deputy Mayor of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug.

From 1994 to 2000 - Chairman of the Duma of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug. Member of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation. Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Law, Legislation, and Legal Issues.

From 2000 to 2001 - First Deputy Envoy of the President of the Russian Federation (Vladimir Putin) in the Ural Federal District.

From 2001 to 2005 - Governor of the Tyumen Region.

Since November 2005 - Head of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

Since May 12, 2008 - Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation (Vladimir Putin) - Head of the Government Apparatus of the Russian Federation.

From October 21, 2010, on the proposal of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, elected Mayor of Moscow by the Moscow City Duma (replacing Yuri Luzhkov in this position).

On November 7, 2010, Dmitry Medvedev appointed Sobyanin as a member of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, simultaneously dismissing the permanent members of the council. Sobyanin was the first Mayor of Moscow to be included in the Security Council. On November 23, he was elected to the Bureau of the Supreme Council of the United Russia party.

While Sobyanin was appointed by President of Russia Medvedev, the territory of Moscow was rapidly expanded by merging part of the Moscow region in the southwest. As of July 1, 2012, the area of Moscow doubled, and the population grew by 250,000 people.

On June 5, 2013, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on Sobyanin's resignation at his own request and the appointment of an acting mayor until the early elections on September 8, 2013. In the early elections, Sergey Sobyanin decided not to run as a candidate from the United Russia party but as an independent candidate, which meant that he had to overcome not only the municipal hurdle (110 signatures from municipal deputies) but also gather 70,000 signatures from voters. On September 8, 2013, he was re-elected as Mayor, receiving 51.37% of the vote with a turnout of 32.03% (a total of 1,193,178 votes), and took office again on September 12.

In October 2017, Sergey Sobyanin announced his intention to participate in the mayoral elections in Moscow in September 2018. On September 9, 2018, Sergey Sobyanin was re-elected as Mayor, with 70.17% of the votes.

Awards. He was awarded the Order of Honor and the Medal of the Order 'For Services to the Fatherland' II class.
