Taxi Driver Earnings in Ukraine

According to Novyny.live: Taxi drivers in Ukraine earn a monthly wage that is 10,000 hryvnia higher than the national average. As of the end of January 2026, the average salary across the country is 27,500 hryvnia, which represents a 22% increase compared to the same period last year. In contrast, the average monthly income for a taxi driver currently stands at 37,500 hryvnia. This wage premium exists despite a shifting labor market for drivers.

Regional Salary Variations

Taxi driver salaries show significant variation depending on the region:

  • In Kyiv, where popular ride-hailing services like Bolt, Uklon, and Uber operate, drivers earn approximately 45,000 hryvnia per month, a 27% annual increase.
  • In Odesa, the average taxi driver salary is 42,000 hryvnia, marking an 11% rise.
  • In Lviv, drivers can expect to earn around 40,000 hryvnia monthly, which is 21% higher than the previous year.
  • In Dnipro, drivers receive 37,000 hryvnia per month, also a 21% year-on-year increase.

Nationwide demand for taxi drivers has fallen by 12% compared to the end of January last year. This decline may signal changes in the labor market and consumer needs in Ukraine. Therefore, while taxi drivers' earnings exceed the national average, the industry is confronting certain challenges.

The rise in taxi driver wages against the backdrop of increasing average salaries in Ukraine may indicate the profession's competitiveness in the current job market.

However, the drop in demand for taxi services could point to shifts in consumer behavior, with people potentially choosing alternative modes of transport or cutting back on transportation costs. These factors require further analysis to understand long-term trends within Ukraine's taxi sector.
