Tariffs for Light and Heat: Ukrainians Given a Promise for 2025.
Ukraine successfully completed the heating season and increased its energy capacities. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a government meeting.
According to him, in 2024, 4 GW of capacities in the field of thermal and hydropower were restored, and in the following year, it is planned to restore another 3 GW.
Last year, 233 generating units with a total capacity of over 830 MW were installed, most of which are gas turbine, gas piston, and cogeneration units. For 2025, the commissioning of nearly 900 MW of distributed generation capacity is planned.
The government has implemented a number of measures to support the development of the energy sector. In particular, during the martial law, VAT on the import of energy equipment has been abolished. There is also the 'Made in Ukraine' program, which provides a 15% compensation for purchasing equipment from domestic manufacturers. Recently, the list of such products has been significantly expanded to nearly 450 items from 19 manufacturers.
With the second half of 2024, banks started financing energy projects for a total amount of UAH 10.5 billion, with over 5,000 loans issued for individuals. For condominiums, the GreenDIME program is available with financing of up to UAH 2 million for solar stations and UAH 2 million for heat pumps.
The Prime Minister confirmed that tariffs for heat and light remain unchanged throughout the current heating season. UAH 42.3 billion has been allocated in the budget for the subsidy and benefit program for 2025.
