How to properly eat Maltesers

According to The Sun: Maltesers manufacturers have finally figured out how to best enjoy these delicious candies.

According to a survey, more than half of consumers suck on the sweets without chewing them, while 26% bite into the chocolate before reaching the filling.

The debate on how to consume Maltesers is settledSWNS

24% chew them in half and consume them separately.

However, associated scientist Megan Rushman assures that the best way is to eat the candy whole and then crunch.

“This covers the largest area of the palate and provides a multisensory experience.”

According to the scientist, this activates both taste receptors and sound due to the distribution of flavor and noise when crunching.

This information comes at a time when Maltesers is celebrating the release of a new version with white chocolate. Megan added:

“While the sweet raspberry filling is certainly tasty, it actually serves an important function.”

“It helps to break down the chocolate, preventing that sticky, heavy feeling that occurs on the palate from a solid piece of chocolate.”

“The unique texture and balance between chocolate and raspberry filling make this treat an icon admired by many.”

The survey, involving 2000 Maltesers fans, also revealed that those who suck do so because they enjoy how the raspberry filling dissolves in their mouth.

Another 23% choose this method to prolong the moment of enjoyment.

Those who prefer biting believe their method offers two layers of flavor, while 24% simply want to savor the sweets more slowly.

On average, respondents believe the optimal time for savoring is 22 seconds.

While 53% believe that the best temperature for consumption is room temperature, 31% prefer cool Maltesers straight from the fridge.

Fans have also determined that the best time to enjoy Maltesers is between 7 PM and 9 PM, mostly while watching TV (57%) or as a dessert after dinner (20%).

The discussion also featured Kate Lawler and Bodj, who shared their thoughts on the best way to consume Maltesers in a fun debate format.

Kate said:

“As a nation, we love discussing food, and in my home, this is no exception.”

“Bodj insists that the candy should be bitten into, while I prefer it whole with a crunch.”

“Science may have its opinion, but frankly, regardless of whether you bite, dissolve, or take it whole, the search for the right way to enjoy it is where all the fun lies.”

A recent survey revealed not only consumer preferences but also the intrigue surrounding this popular candy. Maltesers continue to remain favorites among Ukrainians, enhancing their daily taste. By paying attention even to the details of consumption, the brand shows how important every moment of delight is, regardless of the way it is enjoyed.
