Trump Leads Among Republican Candidates Ahead of Primaries in the USA.
The 2024 primary season has begun in the United States, and Donald Trump is already ahead of his Republican competitors in key popularity metrics. According to a national poll in Iowa, Trump received high marks from Republicans and independent Republicans on three indicators: chances of winning in November, strong leadership, and qualifications. He also surpasses other Republicans in empathy and overall values. Overall, most Republicans are very satisfied with Trump as a candidate. Other candidates received lower scores.
A total of 72% of adults who lean Republican would be satisfied with Trump being nominated as the candidate, compared to 75% in May. 61% would be satisfied with Ron DeSantis.
However, among Democrats and independents with Democratic views, a minority are satisfied with Biden's nomination from their party, reflecting his overall weak ratings on issues such as the economy and immigration.
Primaries are the first stage of voting, where a single candidate is selected to run in the general elections. The presidential election in the USA will be held on November 5, 2024. Voters will also choose electors who are to select the president and vice president in December, as well as choose representatives in both houses of Congress.
