American President Donald Trump confidently claims that thanks to his actions, Russian President Putin was unable to capture all of Ukraine. He made these remarks at a press briefing in the White House on August 14.
Trump also added that Putin is likely seeking to reach some agreement with the U.S. President. Their meeting in Alaska on August 15 is expected to yield successful results in resolving the conflict. However, if the negotiations prove unsuccessful, the meeting will be concluded quickly.
'I believe President Putin wants to see an agreement. If I weren't president, he would have captured all of Ukraine' - noted Trump.
The head of the White House also did not rule out the possibility of European leaders participating in a meeting with Putin and Zelensky. He expressed hope for a successful outcome in discussions with the Russian leader in Alaska.
Reports suggest that Donald Trump sees his own influence as a key factor in preventing Russian aggression towards Ukraine, and envisions the possibility of reaching an agreement with Putin at the upcoming meeting.Read also
