Trump Threatens Seizure of Iran's Kharg Island, Sets April 6 Deadline.
Donald Trump's Statements on Controlling Iranian Oil
According to Novyny.live: U.S. President Donald Trump has signaled that he may pursue control over Iran's oil supplies and the strategic Kharg Island, leaving the door open for military action to achieve this goal. He has set an April 6 deadline for reaching a deal with Tehran while warning of potential strikes on Iran's energy infrastructure.
Trump emphasized that seizing Iranian oil is a top priority for him, stating:
“To be honest, what I like most is taking oil from Iran, but some fools in the U.S. are asking, 'Why are you doing this?'”
Kharg Island Situation and Regional Tensions
Kharg Island serves as Iran's primary oil export hub. Trump also noted that capturing the island is among the options under consideration by the U.S.:
“We might take Kharg Island, or we might not. We have many options... I don't think they have any defense. We could easily seize it.”
According to the U.S. president, military efforts have already struck 13,000 targets, with approximately 3,000 more remaining. He added that 'a deal could be reached fairly quickly,' underscoring U.S. activity in the region.
The number of oil tankers sailing under the Pakistani flag through the Strait of Hormuz has increased from 10 to 20, potentially linked to rising tensions in the area. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Ali Khamenei, a senior Iranian official, have been mentioned in discussions about possible leadership changes within the country.
Trump made it clear that the U.S. has a wide range of options if negotiations with Iran fail to yield the desired results.
These remarks from Trump highlight escalating friction between the U.S. and Iran, which could have serious implications for regional stability. Control over Iranian oil and the strategically vital Kharg Island could significantly impact global energy markets, given Iran's role as a major oil supplier. With the increased number of tanker transits through the Strait of Hormuz, it appears regional nations are bracing for potential geopolitical shifts that may further intensify the conflict.
