Trump threatens Obama with criminal investigation - what is the reason.
US President Donald Trump stated that former President Barack Obama could become the subject of a criminal investigation due to his statements about Russia's interference in the 2016 American elections. This threat was expressed during a meeting with Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at the White House.
Trump accused Obama of treason
Trump calls Obama the main target in the investigation of Russia's interference in the US elections. 'Obama was a traitor and wanted to stage a coup,' Trump stated.
Earlier, Trump published a video from TikTok on his new social network Truth Social, showing Obama's arrest and imprisonment, captioning it with the words 'No one is above the law.'
Barack Obama openly criticized Trump back in April 2025, accusing him of pressuring the media and double standards. In June of that same year, he compared Trump's policies to authoritarian regimes and warned that America risks losing its democracy.
In his latest statement, Trump raised for discussion the possible criminal investigation against Obama due to his accusations of Russian interference in the elections, which opened a new chapter in the political confrontation between the former and current US presidents.
