Trump ordered strikes on Venezuela: what is known about the attack on Caracas.
According to ТСН: U.S. President Donald Trump made the decision to strike Venezuela a few days ago, before Christmas, but later this operation was postponed.
This information was confirmed by two American officials. According to CBS and FOX News, the strikes were ordered by Trump, but the Pentagon has not yet commented on the situation.
The situation in Caracas
In the capital of Venezuela, Caracas, explosions and gunfire can be heard, and aviation has intensified amid escalating relations with the United States. The southern part of the city, especially near large military bases, has been left without electricity.
Statement from the Venezuelan government
The Venezuelan authorities directly pointed to those responsible for the strikes, stating that they are being carried out by the U.S.
«Venezuela rejects, denies, and condemns to the international community the extremely serious military aggression committed by the current government of the United States against the territory of Venezuela,»- it is stated in the announcement.
The document also notes that the strikes on Caracas aim to ‘seize Venezuela's strategic resources, including oil and minerals,’ as well as ‘forcefully violate the political independence of the country’.
Actions of the President of Venezuela
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro signed a decree declaring a state of external attack on the territory of the country. He also instructed to implement all national defense plans ‘at the appropriate time and under the right circumstances’.
This situation in Caracas indicates growing tension in relations between Venezuela and the United States. The response from the Venezuelan government to possible military actions by the U.S. emphasizes the seriousness of threats to political stability in the region and the escalation of conflict that could have serious consequences for both Venezuela and the international community.
