Trump demands full access to Venezuela: what the US president means.
According to ТСН: US President Donald Trump has announced that Washington requires 'full access' to Venezuela in order to, in his opinion, restore the country.
During a meeting with reporters while flying on Air Force One, Trump noted:
'We need full access. We need access to oil and to other things in their country that will allow us to rebuild this country.'
He also reiterated previous statements made in an interview with The Atlantic, emphasizing that interim Venezuelan President Delcy Rodriguez may face a 'worse fate' than Nicolas Maduro if she 'does not make the right choice.'
'I don't need to explain this. I'll just say that she faces a situation that is likely worse than Maduro's, because, you know, Maduro surrendered immediately.'
However, Trump did not specify what he meant by 'the right decision' on the part of the Venezuelan authorities.
It is worth noting that earlier, fears of military conflicts had held Trump back from seeking to seize territories and natural resources of other countries. However, after recent events in Venezuela and the kidnapping of President Maduro, the American leader seems to have become fully confident in his power and began to 'Putinize' US foreign policy.
Trump's words reflect a change in the US attitude towards Venezuela, emphasizing Washington's desire to more actively intervene in the internal politics of the country. This raises concerns among international observers who are watching the potential consequences of such an approach for stability in the region.
