Trump calls for a peaceful resolution to the conflict
US President Donald Trump urged Ukraine and Russia to leave their current positions and reach an agreement to end the war during a meeting with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky. The Ukrainian side reacted positively to this initiative.“The meeting with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky was very interesting and heartfelt, but I told him, as I strongly advised President Putin, that it is time to stop the killings and reach an AGREEMENT! Enough bloodshed, enough determining borders through war and bravery. They must stop where they are now,”- noted Trump. Zelensky, for his part, supported the idea of a ceasefire during a press briefing. He thanked for the invitation and described the meeting as long and productive, adding that various topics were discussed, including defense and weapon production. The meeting between Trump and Zelensky demonstrates the willingness of both leaders to peacefully resolve the conflict and emphasizes the importance of an agreement to end the war. This agreement could be the first step towards resolving the situation in eastern Ukraine. It is important to note that peace negotiations open a new chapter in the relations between Ukraine and the USA and indicate a shift in the direction of international policy regarding the conflict. Hopes for the conclusion of an agreement indicate the leaders' intention to embark on a path of dialogue for the sake of maintaining peace and stability in the region.
