Trump claims about US profits from supporting Ukraine: how the deal works.
According to ТСН: US President Donald Trump believes that Washington will be able to fully cover the expenses for supporting Ukraine that were incurred during Joe Biden's administration, thanks to strategic economic deals.
During a conversation with journalists, Trump noted that the war in Ukraine is not a financial burden for the United States. He emphasized that the US is not only not incurring losses, but is also making a profit.
«Moreover, we are making money because unlike Biden — Biden gave 350 billion dollars, just gave it away»,
— emphasized the president.
Trump also mentioned that the deal regarding rare earth metals has already allowed Ukraine to recover a significant portion of the spent funds, and he believes that the reimbursement volumes will grow.
«Now I have returned a significant portion because we concluded a deal regarding rare earth metals, entered the rare earth metals sector, and we will return a lot of this money. Maybe all the money, maybe even more than all the money»,
— summarized Trump.
It is also worth noting that Ukraine and the US signed a historic agreement on the extraction of over 50 types of minerals, which envisages the establishment of a parity Reconstruction Investment Fund (50/50). The document covers lithium, titanium, rare earth metals, oil, and gas, but pertains exclusively to new deposits, maintaining full state control over national resources. Trump called the agreement a way to 'secure US money' and a tool for protecting Ukraine through American presence, while Kyiv sees it as a strategic step towards modernization and attracting DFC technologies without new debt obligations.
The agreement between Ukraine and the United States is an important step in the development of relations between the countries and emphasizes a mutual commitment to stability in the region. Cooperation in the mining sector can serve as a foundation for further economic growth in Ukraine and strengthening its positions on the international stage.
