Preparations for the NATO Summit

According to Espreso.tv: Donald Tusk, head of the European People's Party, has announced preparations for the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara. He also addressed the ongoing tensions between Ukraine and Poland, as well as the controversy surrounding the Order of the White Eagle being revoked from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This summit comes at a critical time as European security remains a top priority amid Russia's war in Ukraine.

On June 24, Tusk will take part in a meeting of the E5 group, which includes Poland, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Germany. This gathering marks a key step ahead of the NATO summit, where major European security issues will be discussed. Tusk stated,

“I will also update our European allies on the situation on the Russian-Ukrainian front.”

The Order of the White Eagle Dispute

Tusk also touched on the matter of the Order of the White Eagle, which was taken from Volodymyr Zelenskyy. On June 8, the Chapter of the Order of the White Eagle convened, and on June 19, Nawrocki decided to strip the Ukrainian president of the honor. Zelenskyy returned the award on June 20, and Nawrocki’s office confirmed receipt on June 22. Commenting on the move, Zelenskyy said that

“I see in Nawrocki’s actions nothing more than an electoral motive.”

Additionally, on May 26, Zelenskyy signed a decree granting the honorary designation 'named after the Heroes of the UPA' to the Separate Center for Special Operations 'North.' This move highlights his effort to emphasize Ukraine’s historical legacy and fight for independence.
