The US confirmed support for Ukraine's pursuit of peace
Donald Trump's administration is striving for complete peace in Ukraine. It intends to continue supporting Kyiv in its efforts to achieve an end to the war.
This was stated by Deputy Spokesperson of the US State Department Mignon Houston in an interview with the Estonian publication Postimees.
According to her, Washington shares Ukraine's aspiration for a comprehensive ceasefire that should stop attacks on civilians and critical infrastructure.
'This administration seeks a lasting, robust, and stable peace in the region. We want to continue standing shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine', Houston emphasized.
The statement came amid ongoing Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure, raising concerns among the international community and highlighting the urgent need for diplomatic efforts to end the violence.
Earlier, it was reported that, according to US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker, on August 8, Donald Trump will announce tough sanctions and tariffs against Russia. Friends and trading partners will not remain with the Russians.
It was also reported that the American leader doubts whether Vladimir Putin is concerned about the sanctions. In his opinion, the war between Ukraine and Russia should never have started at all.
