Full Cavalier of the Order 'For Courage' Pavlo Chayka Died in a Road Accident in Volyn.

Pavlo Chayka, People's Hero of Ukraine and full cavalier of the Order 'For Courage', died in a road accident near the village of Khorokhorin in the Lutsk district on September 29. This was reported by the city mayor, Vyacheslav Polishchuk.

According to information from the Volyn region police, a 36-year-old resident of the Kyiv region, driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle, entered the oncoming lane and collided with a Ford Fusion car driven by a 30-year-old resident of Volodymyr.

As a result of the collision, the motorcycle caught fire, and its driver died. The passenger of the car, a 30-year-old woman, was injured, but hospitalization was not required.

An investigation into the road accident is currently underway. A criminal case has been initiated under part 2 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, regarding the violation of traffic rules that led to Pavlo Chayka's death.

The farewell to Pavlo Chayka will take place on October 2 in his native Rozhyshche.

The Life Path of Pavlo Chayka

Pavlo Chayka was born in Rozhyshche, a city in the Volyn region, and was an honorary citizen of the city. He lived in Kyiv with his wife.

At the age of 15, he entered the Volyn Regional Military Lyceum, after which he continued his studies at the law faculty of VNU named after Lesia Ukrainka. In 2007, he began his military career, starting with conscription service in the airborne troops, and then signed a contract. After two years of service in 'Berkut', Pavlo returned to the army.

In 2015, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine spoke about the feats of Pavlo Chayka. He was a participant in the defense of Donetsk airport and fought in battles at the Debaltseve bridgehead. He was a platoon commander in the 79th Air Assault Brigade and went through the hardest fights in Sloviansk, Zelenopillya, Maryinka, and participated in the defense of Donetsk airport and Debaltseve. He was wounded twice.

Pavlo Chayka received the Order 'For Courage' of all three degrees. He was awarded the Order 'For Courage' III degree on July 8, 2014, for personal courage and heroism in defending the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. He received the Order 'For Courage' II degree on December 4, 2014. The Order 'For Courage' I degree was awarded on February 26, 2015, for personal courage and heroism in defending the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. In 2016, he received the Order 'People's Hero of Ukraine'.
