The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office reported suspicion against an official from the Department of Education and the general director of a company. They are believed to be involved in misappropriating funds totaling over 400 thousand hryvnias.

According to the investigation, a contract was signed between the Podilsk District State Administration and a contracting organization for the major repair of a protective structure in one of the educational institutions in the area. The works were estimated and paid at inflated prices, resulting in losses to the city budget of over 440 thousand hryvnias.

The actions of the head of the contracting firm were qualified under Part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - misappropriation of budget funds through abuse of power in a state of war. The official from the Department of Education is charged with aiding and abetting this crime (Part 5 of Article 27, Part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Currently, the issue of choosing preventive measures for the suspects is being resolved, as well as the possible suspension of the official from the Podilsk District State Administration from their position.

It should be noted that a scheme for purchasing generators at inflated prices for hospital needs has been uncovered in Kyiv. Additionally, a staff member in the Kyiv City State Administration was revealed to have purchased 200 body cameras for municipal security with poor characteristics.

The suspicion against the official and the general director in Kyiv regarding misappropriating funds for repairs reminds of the widespread corruption in the field of public procurement and the construction sector. Legislation uses mechanisms to stop such violations and hold guilty parties accountable.
