Kyiv Official on Trial: What It Cost to Get Advertising Approvals.
Former City Official Faces Bribery Charges
According to Novyny.live: A former chief specialist from Kyiv’s Department of Urban Planning and Architecture is now under suspicion for accepting illegal payments in exchange for approving outdoor advertising permits. The official, who worked at the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA), allegedly demanded bribes to process the required documents smoothly.
The Bribe Amounts Revealed
According to investigators, the suspect collected money between 2024 and 2025 for unhindered approval of advertising placements. Over this period, she pocketed a total of 64,000 hryvnias. The fees for approving signage varied:
- The cheapest approval cost 2,000 hryvnias;
- The most expensive—a large banner—went for 6,000 hryvnias.
Payments were funneled to a close relative’s bank card. This case has sparked public outrage, as it highlights potential abuses in urban development and architecture—a sector already under scrutiny for corruption. Such practices undermine trust in city planning and demand a thorough investigation.
This incident underscores the urgent need for transparency and oversight in urban governance, where official misconduct can severely hamper the growth of city infrastructure.
The ongoing probe could mark a critical step toward strengthening ethics in public administration and restoring citizens’ faith in local authorities.
