Lithuania warns of the threat of war with Russia by 2030: what the new strategy contains.
According to ТСН: Lithuania has reviewed its national security strategy, pointing to a possible existential threat from Russia, which could start a war against NATO by the end of the decade.
The new version of the document notes that the security situation in Lithuania has significantly deteriorated. The main elements of the defense strategy are military capabilities, societal resilience, and support from allies.
Need for defense preparation
Officials emphasize the importance of targeted preparation both by the state and by citizens for possible actions in wartime conditions.
The Deputy Minister of Defense of Lithuania, Karolis Aleksa, noted that Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine four years ago confirmed the assessments laid down in the previous security strategy, which was adopted two months before the Russian invasion.
Strengthening borders
It was previously reported that Lithuania has begun active measures to strengthen its borders with Russia and Belarus. Local residents noticed that construction work has started on the bridges in the border areas. The armed forces of the country confirmed that this is preparation for creating a 'Baltic defense line.'
The updated national security strategy of Lithuania reflects serious changes in the country's defense policy, responding to increasing threats. It emphasizes not only the readiness of the military but also the active involvement of society in strengthening defense capabilities, which is important in the face of the unpredictable geopolitical situation in the region.
