Lviv Court Resumes Trial of Parubiy’s Killer; Widow Seeks Ban on Crime Scene Video.
Court Proceedings in Lviv
According to Novyny.live: On June 22, the trial of Mykhailo Stselnikov, accused of murdering former Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andriy Parubiy, resumed in Lviv. The hearing took place at the Frankivsky District Court, marking the end of a pause in the criminal case. Parubiy’s widow, Ulyana, attended the session and requested that the press be barred from viewing the crime scene video.
Also present at the hearing were Parubiy’s sister, daughter, and goddaughter. One key issue addressed was a motion from the lawyer representing Stselnikov’s mother and wife, seeking the lifting of an asset freeze on the accused’s relatives. A document demanding the removal of this seizure was submitted to the court.
Payout Dispute and Public Interest
Notably, on May 22, the court ordered the suspension of a one-time financial aid payment of 5 million hryvnias to the family of fallen soldier Mykhailo Stselnikov. At the same time, a separate trial is ongoing in Lviv against Vyacheslav Zinchenko, who is also accused of murder—specifically, the killing of Iryna Farion.
These court cases have drawn significant public attention, unfolding against a backdrop of complex circumstances involving murder charges against high-profile individuals.
Trials related to the killings of public figures underscore the gravity of the situation in Ukraine, where violence against those in senior positions is becoming increasingly pertinent. The proceedings have sparked widespread societal debate, touching not only on personal tragedies but also on broader issues of justice and security. As both cases proceed in parallel, their outcomes could have important implications for public consciousness and the country’s legal system.
