A fund established in Lviv in honor of a mother and three daughters killed by Russia.
The Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU) announced the creation of a scholarship fund in honor of Eugenia Bazylevych and her three daughters, Yaryna, Daria, and Emilia, who died from a Russian shelling in Lviv on September 4, 2024. This was reported by UCU itself.
According to UCU, the fund will be named after the Bazylevych family and is a joint project of the university, the father Yaroslav Bazylevych, and the National Scout Organization of Ukraine "Plast".
The main goal of the fund is to raise $100,000, which will be used to provide annual scholarships to UCU students. This will allow the ideals and principles embodied in the lives of the Bazylevych family to be followed. UCU also emphasized that all family members were active scouts.
"The endowment will allow for annual scholarships in memory of Eugenia, Yaryna, Daria, and Emilia Bazylevych. This way, the university will be able to help talented students who cannot afford their education due to challenging circumstances," UCU explained.
Yaroslav Bazylevych, the father of the three daughters, shared his feelings: "I always felt like the happiest and wealthiest man and father because I had such wonderful children. They were responsible, hardworking, intelligent, initiative, and patriotic. I was always proud of them and will continue to be proud. Help create a sustainable scholarship fund named after Eugenia, Yaryna, Daria, and Emilia Bazylevych so that the world remembers their names."
Let us recall that during the massive shelling that took place on September 4, Daria, Yaryna, Emilia, and their mother Eugenia were killed by a Russian rocket while hiding in the stairwell of their building during an air raid.
The farewell ceremony for the Bazylevych family took place in Lviv on September 6.
