A new water supply was launched in Mykolaiv: the city will receive fresh water in two weeks.
According to inkorr.com: A new main water supply has started operating in Mykolaiv, which will soon begin supplying fresh water to the city.
According to information from the Government Portal, 8.7 billion hryvnias have been allocated from the state budget for the construction of the water intake system from the Southern Bug River in 2024.
'The project was managed to be reduced from the initial cost to 6.5 billion UAH thanks to the Recovery Agency. The saved funds will be directed to the construction of water supply systems in other regions,' emphasized the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko.
Construction work began in January 2025, and successful testing of the water supply took place in August. Water has already started being supplied to the reservoirs of the water utility, and within two weeks, fresh water will completely replace brackish water in the city systems.
The new water supply will provide 120 thousand cubic meters of water per day for households and 50 thousand cubic meters for irrigating agricultural lands.
'Our goal is uninterrupted water supply in all Ukrainian communities. To scale this work, the government has approved a list of projects for new construction, reconstruction, and capital repairs of water supply systems and networks in Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, and Poltava regions,' the Prime Minister emphasized.
Thus, the new main water supply in Mykolaiv will become an important source of fresh water for local residents and will serve as an example for implementing similar projects in other regions of Ukraine.
The launch of the new water supply system in Mykolaiv will not only improve the population's access to quality water but also positively impact the agricultural needs of the region. This indicates the government's efforts toward infrastructure recovery and support for local communities, which is an important step in the country's development after the various challenges of recent years.
