The work of customs authorities in Ukraine will be strengthened by the implementation of reforms in three main areas. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Finance, Serhiy Marchenko, during a Cabinet of Ministers meeting.

In particular, it is planned to introduce new equipment such as scanners, scales, and surveillance cameras, which will help reduce the impact of the human factor. Round-the-clock video monitoring of risky operations is also foreseen.

In addition, it is planned to update the personnel composition of the State Customs Service by 30-40% through the qualification and integrity testing of employees. The introduction of a motivation and bonus system for customs officers is also envisioned.

One of the priorities is to create electronic services to ensure transparent and clear customs regulations for cargo clearance.

Weighing until September

'We plan to complete all these initiatives by September 2020. By the end of May this year, key personnel issues are to be resolved, and a monitoring center will be established. Then our attention will be focused on the automation of customs clearance and the preparation of a new customs tariff,' the head of the Ministry of Finance informed.

Earlier, it was reported that the State Customs Service received permission to increase salaries by 50% for employees who switch to a contractual form of employment.

During the Cabinet meeting, an announcement was made about the reform of customs in Ukraine. In particular, it is planned to implement new equipment, update the personnel composition, create electronic services, and other measures aimed at improving the quality of customs operations in the country.
