The Federal Police of Germany and the Brandenburg State Criminal Investigation Department have identified and detained an 18-year-old Russian citizen, suspected of preparing a politically motivated attack. According to 'Glavkom', the German police press service sent details of the investigation.

The message states: 'After receiving information about possible plans for an attack in Berlin and following an intensive investigation, the Brandenburg authorities managed to detain the suspect in preparing an allegedly politically motivated attack.'

According to Tagesspiegel, the 18-year-old suspect was detained at Schönefeld Airport. Preliminary information suggests that investigators suspect an Islamist motive, but do not rule out a political motive as well.

It is preliminarily assumed that the young man is a Chechen living in Potsdam, and his target was an attack on the Israeli embassy in Berlin. According to the publication, the suspect intended to leave the country and fly to Istanbul after the failed implementation of the attack plans.

According to law enforcement, the district court judge of Brandenburg issued an arrest order for the suspect.

It should be noted that yesterday, in the city of Bat Yam, a suburb of Tel Aviv, explosions occurred on three buses filled with explosives. Three explosions took place within minutes of each other. Each bus contained approximately five kilograms of explosives. For example, the Prime Minister of Israel held a lengthy emergency meeting in the government. The country immediately suspended public transport, and all trains also remained in place.
