Poland Raises the Cost of Driver's Licenses: New Tariffs Coming Soon.
According to ТСН: Future drivers in Poland will face an increase in the cost of obtaining a driver's license. The country's Ministry of Infrastructure has presented a draft regulation that foresees an increase in fees, which will come into effect very soon.
Changes in the Cost of Driver's Licenses
These changes will affect both standard and international driver's licenses:
-
Standard Licenses. The cost will rise to 115.50 zlotys (up by 15.50 zlotys compared to before).
-
International Licenses. The fee will increase from 35 to 40.50 zlotys.
The draft has already been published on the website of the Government Legislation Center, and the new rules will come into force 14 days after publication. Therefore, applicants should be prepared for rising costs very soon.
The Ministry of Infrastructure explains the necessity of increasing fees by stating that the current rates have not been reviewed for a long time and no longer cover administrative expenses.
According to local authorities, in 2023, the costs of issuing driver's licenses exceeded the revenue from fees by more than 30.5 million zlotys.
Additionally, earlier reports mentioned changes to the application form for obtaining a temporary residence permit (card pobytu) in Poland. The changes also concern new requirements for attachments and photographs that must be submitted along with the application. This applies to all foreigners, including Ukrainian refugees, who in the future need to change their status from temporary protection to temporary residence.
The increase in fees for driver's licenses in Poland indicates rising administrative costs in this area, which may impact the budget of many future drivers. Changes in application forms and residence permit requirements also indicate the adaptation of the system to meet the needs of foreigners seeking new opportunities for residence in the country. It is important for everyone planning to obtain documents to be aware of the new regulations and prepare for the necessary changes in documentation.
