A scandal has erupted in Poland over generators for Ukraine: details of the investigation.

The European Commission intends to evaluate the project for supplying generators to Ukraine in 2026. This evaluation may lead to Poland having to return 91 million euros. This was reported by the Polish publication RMF24, citing the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF). According to OLAF, serious violations were identified during the implementation of the project, such as price inflation and non-compliance with contractor regulations.
Although the final compensation amount will depend on the European Commission's assessment, it will not exceed the 91 million euros that Poland has already received. It is worth noting that an additional 22 million euros, foreseen by the agreement, has not yet been transferred to the Polish side.
The main character of the scandal is former head of the Polish National Strategic Reserves Agency, Michał Kuchmarowski, who is wanted in August 2024 on suspicion of receiving unlawful benefits. According to Polish media, the official helped to conclude a contract for the purchase of generators with an event agency that had ties to the 'Law and Justice' party.
As a result of the investigation, it was established that the generators intended for Ukraine were handed over to Polish rescuers as part of Kuchmarowski's electoral campaign, who was running for the Sejm from the 'PiS' party.
The European Union will review the allocation of external assistance due to Trump and competition with China
