13th Hub for Ukraine’s ‘Artan’ Special Unit Opens in Poltava.
New 'Artan' Facility Launches in Poltava
According to Novyny.live: On May 27, a new facility for the special forces unit 'Artan'—part of the Defense Ministry’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR)—opened in Poltava. This marks the 13th such location across Ukraine, reflecting the unit’s growing footprint and strategic importance in the country’s defense infrastructure.
Among those who gave their lives for Ukraine is Oleksandr Ivko, who died on May 31, 2023, in the Kharkiv region. For his service and completion of special missions, he was posthumously awarded a HUR distinction. These sacrifices are not forgotten; families of fallen heroes receive support and recognition. As Viktor Torkotiuk stated,
“The families of our boys have become our own family.”
Mykola Ivko, Oleksandr’s father, added:
“This memory is one and the same.”
Future Expansion Plans
Following the Poltava opening, the organization plans to establish additional 'Artan' hubs in other Ukrainian cities. This expansion highlights the growing need to support and develop special units that play a vital role in national security.
The inauguration of the new 'Artan' space in Poltava represents a significant step toward enhancing the effectiveness of HUR special units in Ukraine, underscoring their relevance amid current security challenges. It also demonstrates the state’s commitment to supporting the families of fallen service members—a key aspect of societal recovery and rehabilitation after conflict.
