In Rada, the position on lowering the mobilization age to 50 years was voiced.

The issue of mobilization in Ukraine is still relevant due to the ongoing war. Member of the Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence Serhiy Rakhmanin reported the position of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on this issue. Currently, the possibility of lowering the upper conscription age limit from 60 to 50 years is not being considered. This is due to the complexity of the situation, particularly the demographic situation in the country. Excluding middle and older age individuals from the mobilization resource may lead to a shortage of personnel in rear and support units.
The official position of the General Staff remains unchanged, despite individual statements by representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff in favor of lowering the age threshold. Currently, no changes are anticipated on this issue.
It is also worth noting a petition on the website of the President of Ukraine, which calls for lowering the mobilization age to 50 years. The petition gained enough signatures for consideration and is awaiting a response from Volodymyr Zelensky. Previously, the Rada decided on the mobilization of those fit with limitations up to 25 years old.
