Residents of Odesa region felt the earthquake near the border with Ukraine

On Sunday evening, May 11, an earthquake occurred near the border of Ukraine with Romania, in the Vrancea zone. Seismologists recorded underground shocks with a magnitude of 4.4, which were felt in the Odesa region. It is reported that their intensity corresponded to classification III on the scale.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located near the Romanian cities of Focsani, Buzau, Sfantu Gheorghe, Brasov, and Ploiesti. The main control center confirmed that the source of the shocks was located 135 km from the Ukrainian border. Although the earthquake was considered weakly felt, local residents experienced tremors and reported this on social media.

The seismic activity did not spare Crimea either. Four earthquakes were recorded in the occupied peninsula, occurring in the sea and in the Uchan-Su area. Their magnitude ranged from 1.5 to 2 points, and the strength was 2-3 points. These seismic events were recorded on Saturday morning, April 27.
