A hurricane has struck Krasnoyarsk Krai and Khakassia, Russia, destroying roofs and trees and causing wildfires. Residential buildings are burning, and there are casualties. This is reported by Russian media citing Glavkom.
The hurricane arrived in Krasnoyarsk Krai in early April. The strong winds are tearing off roofs. As a result of one of the gusts, a woman fell from a balcony and died.
The Sayano-Hrsk-Abakan highway is dangerous for traffic due to winds that are blowing containers off trucks and reducing visibility due to smoke from burning fields. People are also complaining about a strong smell of burning. The road leading to the airport is virtually blocked due to accidents and reduced visibility as the fire from the fields has approached the road.
Khakassia has also been affected by wind gusts. The head of the region, Valentin Konovalov, reported that wind gusts reach 30 m/s. The hurricane has caused power outages. Fields are burning, and the fire is approaching the city of Sayano-Hrsk.
